When did it become mandatory?
From 19 June 2026 Art. 54-bis of the Italian Consumer Code (Legislative Decree 209/2025) implements EU Directive 2023/2673. It applies to every merchant selling online to consumers in the European Union.
What do you risk without it?
Administrative fines up to €10,000 and automatic extension of the withdrawal period from 14 days to 12 months and 14 days — with no need for the customer to request it.
What exactly must your site do?
The button must be visible, accessible for the entire withdrawal period, identified with wording such as "withdraw from contract here". The customer completes the request online and receives immediate confirmation. Emails and PDF forms no longer suffice.
